SRIKALAHASTI is one of the famous pilgrim centers in South India, at a distance of 40 Km from Tirupati, the world famous pilgrim center. Situated on the banks of river Swarnamukhi, it is called DAKSHINA KASI, with the ruling deities, Srikalahasteeswara and his consort Sri Gnana Prasunamba.
Sri Vidyaprakasa Ananda Govt. Degree College (M), Srikalahasthi was established in August 1966, with the initiative taken by Swami Vidyaprakasa Ananda of Sri Sukabrahma Ashram, a couple of miles away from the town. The Swamy being a great educationists and philosopher was moved at heart by the then prevailing conditions in and around this town."
The faculty working in this College is well qualified and experienced. They have many achievements to their credit in field of teaching and Research. Some of the staff members are published their books and articles in Journals and conferences. There are 19 Ph.D and 4 M.Phil holders in the College. At present, five faculty members are doing UGC Sponsored Minor Research projects (MRP) in different areas like Botany, Physics and commerce etc., and also some of the staff members are have been submitted their MRPs to UGC SERO, Hyderabad. Two National Seminars have been organized in the year of 2015 i.e. Department of Political Science and Department of Library Science. Five staff members have received state Best Teacher awards so far.
